Watch our video to see the installation of the solar panels.
As part of our climate protection strategy, we aim to reduce our emissions in the long term to avoid climate-related damage and minimise risks. To achieve this, we have installed Photovoltaic (PV) cells at our 3 logistics depots in the UK. This solar panel project first started in Glasgow, before moving on to our headquarters in Rugby and then onto our flagship depot in Brentwood.
Unlike oil and coal, solar ensures toxic chemicals are not released into the atmosphere and add to greenhouse gas emissions. This puts us on the right track to becoming a greener company.
Our Glasgow site solar project went live at the beginning of June. Since going live an average of 88% of all energy used on site comes from the PV system. We have produced 34,000kwh of renewable energy. To give you an insight, this is equivalent to the average annual energy consumption of 11 households and a reduction in CO2 emissions equivalent to planting 400 trees!
Our Rugby site solar project went live towards the end of June. Since going live an average of 80% of all energy used on site comes from the PV system. We have produced 39,000kwh of renewable energy since being live. To give you an insight, this is equivalent to the average annual energy consumption of 13 households and a reduction in CO2 emissions equivalent to planting 460 trees!
We have recently completed our Brentwood site solar project and in August 65% of all energy used on site came from the PV system. Since going live 62,000kwh of renewable energy has been produced - the equivalent of planting 740 trees.
For over 50 years since PERI was founded, we have embraced the concept of sustainable entrepreneurship and made it the basis of our corporate activities and our success. We hope to inspire other companies to turn to renewable energy usage and join us on our mission to become kinder to our planet!
